When someone loses a loved one or hits a hard time, their family can be left struggling. Every month, Accountability Buddy draws one family to help. Nominate a family you know. It's free.
The first draw happens after the app launches. Nominations are open now, and every family that's checked and approved stays in for the first draw.
How it works

Tell us about the family and what happened. Ask them first.

We check it
We contact the family to make sure the story is real and they want to take part.

We draw live
Once a month we draw one family at random, live on video, so everyone can see it's fair.

We help
The family gets the help, and with their OK, we share their story.
The rules
- Free to nominate. You don't have to buy anything, download the app, follow, like, or share to nominate a family or for them to be drawn.
- Who can be nominated: a family in the United States going through a hard time, like the death of a loved one, a serious illness, or an emergency.
- The family must agree. We contact every family before they go into the draw. Families we can't reach, or who say no, are left out.
- We check every story. We may ask for an obituary, a news story, an existing fundraiser, or a quick call. Stories we can't confirm aren't entered.
- One entry per family. Nominating the same family more than once doesn't add more chances.
- A random draw, once a month, from the approved families, shown live on our TikTok and YouTube. Families that aren't drawn stay in for later months.
- How much help is decided by Accountability Buddy each month and announced before the draw. It's paid to the family directly or to their existing fundraiser.
- Your privacy. We only share a family's name, photo, or story if they say yes. We never share your contact details.
- Accountability Buddy's owner and their own family can't be nominated. We can update these rules, and changes are posted on this page.
